While listening to an old playlist – 17 Essential New Songs for Spring from 2010 – I was reminded of one of the most triumphant songs that has ever been written, so I wanted to write a quick post and share it on the off chance you’ve never heard it.
The song is called “Ali in the Jungle” by The Hours. The lyrics speak for themselves, as do the beat and rhythm, both of which are triumphant, even defiant, in their own right.
Listen, read, and then go buy the song if you don’t already own it:
Tell me that listening to that song doesn’t get you pumped up?
What a simple but universally profound message: when you get knocked down, get back up. Damn straight.
I was actually shocked to see how few views the two official videos for the song have. 223,000 for this one and 143,000 for this one. I realize The Hours aren’t exactly mainstream, and this song never became a big radio, but I still figured that with it being featured on a commercial its viral potential was much greater.
For a song this good, and with such a great message, to be so underexposed really is inexplicable. Just doing my part to help change that, and to give anyone a quick pick-you-up who needs one.
Are there any other songs like this one that you consider to be overwhelmingly triumphant or positive?
